Air Force Reserve/Guard- Too old for OTS?
I am looking into the possibility of joining the Air Guard or Air Force reserve (I am non prior service). I just turned 34 and have a BA(management) and MA(criminal justice). The USAF requires a person be commissioned by age 35. I realize the process to gain entrance to OTS, attend the school and commission could take a year or more. (1) What is the chance I could receive an age waiver for OTS if I do not move through the process in time to graduate before I am 35? (2) I see some fields, such as Medical Service Corps, have a higher age limit. Do I qualify for entrance under AFSC 41AX (Health Services Administrator)? (3) Is there a separate recruiting command/process for Medical Service Corps officer candidates?

1) talk to a recruiter 2) talk to a recruiter 3) talk to a recruiter Anyone on here is just guessing and the clock on your age is ticking.
2
Actually the AF requires you to be under 30 to be commissioned. They will waiver it up to age 35, for those with prior enlisted service. Your best bet, would be the Air National Guard The States will waiver age limits, more than the Reserves will.

BETTER YOU HAVE TO GO FOR SOFTWARE...After two or three years you will automatically upgrade to management .. First you have to know what to manage before how to manage..

Use the Occupational Outlook Handbook, which is a government publication (US) and has all of this stuff and more. It should come up on the top of a google search using the book title.

This is a call from citi bank for their associate programme so you may be asked mostly corporate level questions more particularly in maintaining consumer relationship and credit worthiness. How ever if you know any bank employee he may perhaps guide you in detail. All the best and be confident in replies to Board for final winning stroke.

I strngly suggest you gain practical experience, as opposed to a college degree. That is what employers want

Look at http://www.acpha-cahm.org/members.cfm It lists of the schools that are accredited by Accreditation Commision for Programs in Hospitality Administration (for four-year programs) or the Commssion on Accreditation of Hospitality Management Programs (for two-year programs). Also, the College Board website can help you decide how to choose which program is best for you. http://www.collegeboard.com/csearch/majors_careers/profiles/majors/52.0901.html

All the colleges and universities in your area should either have a hospitality or hotel management degree... Good luck...

What do you need in order to teach in an Episcopal seminary? For a PhD in Theology
What do you need in order to teach in an Episcopal seminary? For a PhD in Theology?
After years of confusion and debate, I think I have decided that I want to teach in a seminary. I have lots of questions about it and am not sure where to start. Do I need to be ordained? What educational degrees do I need? I already have an MA in English and an MS in management; do I need an MA in theology in order to pursue a PhD in theology? Some university websites I have visited seem to imply that any master's degree will do for me to apply to the PhD. What do I actually need to do?

It is usual for most professors at Episcopal seminaries to hold both an M.Div. and a PhD or ThD. Whether you should apply to PhD programs or to MDiv programs depends on your particular area of specialization, and upon your level of preparation in that particular area. Most seminary professors are also ordained ministers. The MDiv is the usual path toward ordination. But again, it depends on your intended focus. If Church History is your intended area of specialization, an MA in history (with a focus on European religious history, or Reformation history, or Late Antiquity in the Ancient Near East, for example) would be an adequate preparation for application to a PhD program. (Less relevant Masters degrees do not really prepare students for application directly to PhD programs. For example, you'll likely need either Greek or Hebrew AND either French or German to be considered a serious candidate for a PhD program. You can pick up Greek and Hebrew while doing an MDiv. I assume you already have either French or German.) If Pastoral Theology is your intended focus, an MDiv is essential. If Systematic Theology is your intended focus, then I'd also strongly recommend an MDiv first. Same with Biblical Studies. You should really contact places like EDS (Episcopal Divinity School in Massachusetts) and speak to someone in admissions about your intended focus. They will surely have great advice for you as well.

Where are all the IT jobs in MA
Where are all the IT jobs in MA?
My boyfriend graduated college this past May with a degree in Management Information Systems. He has applied to hundreds of jobs since then and gets little responses! He has gone on a few interviews but never hears back from them. I know the job market is bad right now but I feel so bad- he is very smart and hardworking and is a GENIUS when it comes to computers. He wants to someday be a consultant, but is just looking for a simple IT job to get some experience under his belt. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Since you got no answers to your post, I'm going to try and answer your concerns here, Shannon (what a pretty name): What companies hiring for IT positions, there are literally hundreds of people applying for those same IT positions. I'm in the same spot as your boyfriend: very intelligent, hard working, a genius when it comes to computers and networking, graduated from college with a degree in Computer Network Specialist May 2008, honors, A+ certified, but can't get hired for squat because all the employers want experience. How am I supposed to get experience when nobody is willing to give me a chance? I applied for 100+ of IT positions and interviewed for 15 but didn't land a single IT position because the lack of experience and I quickly end up getting discouraged, frustrated, and thought I will never find an IT job because employers are picky on who they want working in their IT Department. They ceretainly didn't want someone fresh out of school who have been on the same PT job for four years now, interned for a month, could be trained the way they want, and can be on the job for a very long time. So, I volunteer for a computer store in June 2008 for a month to gain IT experience somewhere, I got interviews especially with the state, but, still no job offer from the state and I keep getting turn down for not having enough experience. I have a phone interview next week for a 8am-5pm computer technician position with this state agency. I'm going to light candles and pray very hard because something has to give and I got $4,669 of student loans to pay on and it's hard to pay those loans back with a low paying PT job. I have been on the same job for four years now so that should count for job stability and show the next employer I can be on the job for a long time. It's discouraging when you have been out of school for ten months now, dream of going into the IT field every night, but can't get your foot in the door in the IT field anywhere in town. I'm tired of going to the unemployment office to fill out applications and they can't find me anything. What a waste of time and gas going to the unemployment office. I tried my college who got job placement, but they wasn't much help in finding a job, or I would have an IT job many months ago. According to this veteran computer tech at the same computer store I interned at, I would make a darn good and bright computer tech at some company and would be there for a very long time.

A major in English is truly useless for a communications director. It may help you edit press releases, but a communications degree is much more helpful, along with courses in rhetoric and HRM

Between Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, which is a better place to live and buy a home?
I'm moving to Texas by the end of this year (2008)from San Jose CA, but I'm not sure which metro area I want to move to. I'm retired military and currently work in the security industry so I assume I should be able to find a security job in any area. I also have a BS degree in Aeronautics and a MA in Management. I also want to buy a home so I wondering if any of the areas is less expensive as far as home prices. Also, I'm gay so I was hoping a metro area that would have a strong gay community. I'm sterring towards Dallas because it has 26 gay clubs, a strong gay area (Cedar Springs) and also the largest gay accepting church (the Cathedral of Hope Church) in the world. Any suggestions would be gratefull!!!

Austin is more gay friendly. Dallas second.

San Anton' has more military bases, so it might suit you better. Also probably has the lowest home prices.

i would definitely choose dallas - i have lots of gay friends who live in the cedar springs area - tons of clubs, restaurants, shops - and all very vibrant and lively. close to uptown and downtown, it is always a great time. can't go wrong!

What Postgraduate Masters course is best for me to do now
What Postgraduate Masters course is best for me to do now?
Im a recent graduate in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Im having to choose my next step, a masters. I dont want to stay in Electronics as the job market in this field has been plumetting. To be clear, I want to do a Masters that covers the Engineering aspect + management(team work, leaderships skills) Would be better I stay in Engineering( if yes, which field would prove more employable) or should I do something like an MA in management or busines..to be able to get a taste of both engineering and the corporate world. I feel this would make me 'ready' and quite prepared to find a decent job. I talked to career advisors at uni, friends and people..im still trying to make a decision. Please give your views and advice on what should be my next step? I agree I should get work experience..but I applied, I apply and I will keep on applying..but in this current climate, it is so hard. I havent got any positive reply from any recruiter yet. ;-( So, i decided to stand out a bit by doing a masters, rather than wasting my time looking for jobs which are unpredictable to get!

You asked a good question. I would look for a management program which specialized in engineering management, or a joint M.B.A.-M. Eng. program. I don't know that these exist, but it would be easy to look for them on line. Berkeley and MIT might be good places to start looking, but you might find a good one in an unexpected place. Good luck.

Is it worth getting my Master's degree in Communications
Is it worth getting my Master's degree in Communications?
I will soon be receiving my Bachelor's in Communications with a focus in Advertising. Now I'm debating on whether I should go straight into the workforce after college or go to Graduate School to receive my Master's. I realize that it is more common to receive an MA in some majors than others (business, etc). So, I'm basically wondering if there are clear advantages with getting an MA in Communications (ease of getting a job, better salary, etc) or some kind of related MA (possibly Management?) or if I shouldn't bother getting an MA with this Bachelor's at all. Thanks!

Thats my degree!! yeah for you!! hehe it is worth it-- but i am stopping on my BA and focusing on experience. But I am alread 26 and havent finished my BA! a lot of advertising jobs I looked into asked for M.A's so I know it would help. HOwever they also asked for experience...so if you can work on both that would be SUBLIME! You should probably decide which area you really want to get into...then research it more. I want to do advertising and PR consulting and experience is WAY more important. However if its not consulting and more Marketing, Advertising Managers and Producers then education more valuable

economy sucks. no it wouldn't be worth it
6
You should do your masters in another field, I think majoring in English would be good, im a broadcasting major and all of the people I have met in the field have major in English bc you always need good writers .
7
This answer comes from inside yourself do you think what you want to do with yourself in the future will come closer to coming true if you get your masters in communications. Also in my opinion any degree is a good degree. Lastly as long as your are CURRENTLY financially able to pay for your collage education then who will hurt.
8
What do you want to do with the degree? I got my bachelor's in communications and eventually ended up working as a creative in advertising. It took me about 6 months to realize it wasn't really for me. While I now have it as a backup my advertising experience is basically moot. So my advice to you would be, try to think about what you want to do with your degree and try it. If you don't like it you won't have wasted another 2 years on something you don't want to do. Good luck.

Which MSc/MA in Financial Economics is the best
Which MSc/MA in Financial Economics is the best?
Hello! I'm an AB Management Economics senior in the Philippines, and I'm planning to take up an MSc/MA in Financial Economics. I found graduate schools in UK and in Europe that offer the said degree program, but I don't know which one to take. Kindly answer my question based on the ff criteria: a. prestige of school/degree program b. courses offered/required to take c. fees and the likelihood of getting financial aid d. likelihood of being hired after completing the program Thank you very much!

Hello. a, b, and c depend largely on the school which can be found through searches (you're doing great) c and d depend largely on you.

Hello - A number of years ago, a study of the employment-connection between the prestige of the undergraduate institution and/or the graduate institution, and the job market showed that at most the "name" school helps you get your first job. If you are returning to the Philippines, prestige is even more amorphous. I'd suggest graduate study in any major university in the UK or Spain, because of the language connections to your career. You need to contact the Philippine Dept of Education to determine what, if any, aid is available to you for study abroad. Keep in mind that a graduate degree also qualifies you to be a college/university instructor. British universities are well-known for welcoming foreign students. I received my LLM at University of Edinburgh [wonderful place, but remarkably cold]. I had been offered the same program at Exeter and I think i would have enjoyed myself more. Of course, if you can get into Oxford or Cambridge, by all means take it. And the London School of Economics may be just the place for you. Good luck

It depends which course best suits your career plan, having done a few Management courses in the past, and a postgraduate course 5 years ago in management, I think that the International Management course would have the most benefits with a wider area of expertise. That's just my opinion, which to be honest isn't worth a lot. Your choice is picking the best course for you, compare the prospectus from each course, decide which is best for you. Each Uni must be having Open days soon for new students, go and find out, have a look around. Search the web for the student union blog, most uni's have them, you can find out a lot of information about courses and how good they are from the students themselves. Good luck with your decision.

Looking at the flat world and all companies going global, Do you think a MA in this major would be worth something in the market? Does anyone have more information?

Which graduate degree should I pursue
Which graduate degree should I pursue?
I have the following degrees: BA in English and Spanish MS in Management MA in English I also have about 2 years of teaching experience at the college level (composition). I am trying to decide if I ought to try to get into a PhD program in English (rhetoric and composition) or if I should go a different direction and try for law school. In favor of the PhD: I really love teaching, and I have the grades to get into a decent school (probably not Ivy League, but a good one still). I do not want to do research and would prefer to focus on the classroom at a community college or liberal arts college - not a major research university. Having a PhD would let me stand out from my competitors for those positions, as academic jobs are highly competitive. In favor of the JD: I enjoy arguing/debating and have very strong reading and critical thinking skills, so I feel that I would do well on the LSAT and get into a decent school. With a JD I could go into trial law, or I could do a joint degree with theology and work with the church (the law school in my city offers this option and I really enjoy church work), or I could concentrate on the academic part and teach law. I am not so much concerned with the money, but rather doing a good job with whatever path I choose. So, what do you think I should do? Please give details and support your suggestion. I will check back in case you have any questions. Thanks!

Even a professor at a liberal arts college is expected to do research and publish in order to get tenure and promotions. Don't think this wouldn't be a requirement. "Research university" simply means that major graduate schools and programs are present. And at a liberal arts college, having a PhD really wouldn't make you stand out. Almost all faculty at decent liberal arts colleges (as differentiated from community colleges) have PhD's. Now, law school would take three years; a PhD might take about twice that, since you already have an MA, depending on the complexity of your dissertation topic and whether you needed to work part time while researching and writing it. That's one consideration, as is funding. Top schools have a lot of graduate funding available -- I was well supported while working on my PhD and didn't have to take out any loans or take on an enormous number of sections as a teaching assistant -- but less well-regarded schools might require you to spend much time sweating away as a TA, which would add time to the degree process. The academic job market isn't good right now, and I'm not expecting it to improve much. Lawyers are also suffering, but I suspect their prospects are better. If you really love English and teaching, then do what you love, but be prepared for a long row to hoe. The law/theology idea is an interesting one, since it offers a couple of possible career options that would be enhanced by your management degree. I think you might be very employable.

My suggestion is for you to take a sample LSAT, cold, now. You can get them via LSAT prep books, online, etc. Score it, see what your baseline looks like. If it looks all right - in line with the average LSAT for the strong law schools - then prep for the LSAT, and take it for real. Then apply. Speak to your church about your hopes to work for them. Find out what type of law they most need, and... very gently... ask if they offer any funding, should you want to pursue this path. I am intrigued by that law school/theology option. I'd ask you to explore that one some more.

how much does residential rental property management cost
how much does residential rental property management cost?
I'm curious what it would cost to have property management for a 2 family residential property in Medford MA. including, finding tenants, handling background checks and screenings, all financials and accounting, rent collection or possible eviction, inspections, property upkeep (lawn, snow removal, etc), emergency repairs, etc. ballpark or price range? thank you. or in general... what does residential rental property management typically run? thanks.

We're not in Massachusetts, but we charge typically 8% of the gross rent for everything. For a single property we charge 10%. We charge nothing for showing the property, advertising, running applications- we only make money when we have a paying tenant. I have also seen some companies with ala carte charges; so much to write a lease, so much for advertising, so much for collecting rent, so much for evictions, etc.

Most property management companies charge up to 10% of gross rents, and they handle maintenance, collections, move-ins / move-outs, etc. Your time is then spent running a business as opposed to being a landlord, which in general is like a part time job. Check this out for a list of typical "landlord duties": http://www.free-rental-property-investing-info.com Usually, you'd need many units to justify the cost of a property management company. Most often, 20 units is the magic number. However, if you are not highly leveraged then you may be able to foot the bill with only 2 units.

I'm not entirely sure about Massachusetts as far as salaries go there. The general average starting salary of an electrical or computer engineer around the entire US is about $55-60k/yr. After a few years, it goes up quite a bit. For IT, generally it's about $40k/yr, software, $65k/yr, but all of this depends on your proficiency and the company that you work for. If you already have co-op experience, then you can expect a little more. Compensate for cost of living in massachusetts, and it's a little more still.
2
Salaries vary depending on many factors. To find more accurate salary data you can try www.bls.gov, monster.com ,salary.com or PayScale.com. More information, tips and help at http://moreaboutsalary.blogspot.com/

Is it illegal to not clean up after your dog in MA
Is it illegal to not clean up after your dog in MA?
I know in a lot of states, it's illegal, but not sure about MA. I live in a condo complex, and there are a lot of trees and grass that surround us. It seems that some people here might think that since it's "our" yard, they don't necessarily need to clean up after their dog during walks. Is that allowed, and if not, can I complain to management about it?

Yes it's illegal, and most condo have rules about it too. Just like littering, it's unlawful NOT to pick up after your dog, and your violation is subject to fine. It's probably not our city but I figured the law was for all of MA.

I know with our apartment complex their are rules about cleaning up after your dog and your dog may be evicted if there are too many complaints. I would inquire with your manager of the complex about specific rules.

Well you should read up about file handling in C as for the struct it is an abstract data type so you cna define it to do anything - as you are needing the data of 10 students you can use an array, a linked list would be better but I suspect that your programming skill would not be up for it though it would help with deleting. So here is a rough and ready idea of what you need to do try this code to start with and then improve on it #include<stdio.h> #include<stdlib.h> #include<math.h> int age (int date, int month, int year); int main (void) { FILE *infile, *outfile1, *outfile2; /* Try and make this a struct */ int recno, birthdate, birthmonth, birthyear, ageyears; char sex; if ((infile=fopen("students.txt","r")) == NULL) { printf("Error: input file students.txt cannot be opened"); system("pause"); return 1; } if ((outfile1=fopen("M.txt","w")) == NULL) { printf("Error: output file M.txt cannot be opened"); system("pause"); return 1; } if ((outfile2=fopen("F.dat","w")) == NULL) { printf("Error: output file F.dat cannot be opened"); system("pause"); return 1; } while ( fscanf(infile, "%d %*s %c %d %d %d", &recno, &sex, &birthdate, &birthmonth, &birthyear) > 0 ) { ageyears = age ( birthdate, birthmonth, birthyear ); if ( sex == 'M' ) fprintf ( outfile1, "%-8d%2d\n", recno, ageyears ); else if (sex == 'F' ) fprintf ( outfile2, "%-8d%2d\n", recno, ageyears ); }; fclose(infile); fclose(outfile1); fclose(outfile2); system("pause"); return 0; } int age (int date, int month, int year) { int startdate = 1; int startmonth = 11; int startyear = 2005; int ageinyears; ageinyears = startyear - year; if (month > startmonth || (month == startmonth && date > startdate)) ageinyears--; return ageinyears; }

You just need to have internet connection , Jst login and start working on the project. Of couse include your friends in that also. For more info click on http://www.proofhub.com

Simple: - define a suitable struct - declare an array of these structs - implement functions for manipulating the array of structs

What is the ranking/reputation of Management course provided by Harvard Extension School at Boston?
http://www.extension.harvard.edu/ This school in Boston MA provides various flexible courses. One of them is Masters in liberal Arts in Management. Does any one know how is the course ? Is this considered valuable ? Never seen any rankings published for this course which can say how this course is as comparered with other similar courses offered by other schools. Any information/suggestions in this regard are welcome.

Usually Extension courses are NOT accepted as legitimate degrees, even if a degree is given. I've never heard of an extension program being ranked anywhere. Universities see extension as a purely financial opportunity, and to me, there would be red flags with this course. For one thing, the faculty who teach in these programs are not, for the most part, regular faculty at the university and, when they are, they are doing this for extra money, rather than as their primary job. They are hired by Extension administrators, who usually know nothing about the particular discipline, rather than by the faculty of the university. The fact that it is a Master's in Liberal Arts in Management sounds to me like someone is trying to take advantage of the reputation of the Harvard Business School by fooling you into believing that you are actually getting a degree from Harvard in business. I would find that really cheesy. It might work if you are a consultant who just needs an additional credential for work with small, unsophisticated clients, but most employers will probably not think much of it.

I can't seen to find a good paying job although I have a Masters Degree in Management
I can't seen to find a good paying job although I have a Masters Degree in Management?
I retired from the military after 20 years of service in 2002. I retired as a E-5 not too impressive, but in the military I focused more in college and not so much on making stripes. While I was in the military I earned a BS degree in Aeronautical Management (3.67 GPA in 1996) and a MA degree in Management (3.64 GPA in 2000). When I retired I could not find a decent job that paid very well, I winded up in the security field, but that also doesn't pay too well . Only $15/Hr with no vacation or sick days. This is my problem: I do not have too many marketable skills let alone experience in the civilian world. I fueled and did minor repairs on aircraft while I was in the military but I dislike that type of work very much. That is why I excelled with my degrees. I wanted to start a different career but that has not transpired. I live in the San Francisco bay area (San Jose). Can anyone suggest how I can find a decent paying (18/Hr) job with no experience but with an advanced degree? Thx

You should first of all understand how the civilian sector is so much different from the military in terms of getting good jobs. In the military, the best qualified person on paper is the one who usually gets assignments. In the civilian sector, you should realize that it is ALL politics and that unless you are well connected with the right people in power then your chances are slim to none. You are basically on your own out here. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have seen competence being bypassed by physical beauty and sexual favors, class discrimination and nepotism are the rules of the game out here. People make hiring decisions emotionally and a lot of times sexually and then reach for facts to rationalize their decisions. Your military experience is meaningless out here as well. I entered the civilian sector back in 87 after separating from the Army as an 03-E with twelve citations and an impeccable 12 year career that began as an E-1. None of that meant a damn thing in the eyes of future employers—they simply didn’t care what I brought to the table in terms of management and leadership experience but I did get an opportunity to work for a large company simply because the hiring manager was gay and thought I looked cute. Work on the subtleties of your looks and charisma because out here that is all that matters—look at politics and tell me it isn’t so. Good luck I do wish you well

My father in law retired from the military about ten years ago. He is stuck in the security field as well. I would suggest going to the websites listed below and post your resume.

Probably you will have to check with either the state or county or even the feds, at their various websites. If you have good paper (DD 214) discharge, they will give you preference for hiring in many state, federal, or municipal jobs. Now, you will need to have good references. People willing to write you a letter of reference, as well as being able to be used as a reference. Contact various people who would be willing to put in a good word for you...as well as write a good word for you. Keep in mind that we are in a recession. With your background, you may have to move to another state, so start looking for opportunities on Career Builder.com, or check with your state unemployment division for locations of state job websites in other parts of the counry. Further into the midwest, they are looking for corrections officers, mechanics, etc. at the state level. Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. You will also have to clean up your English skills. Start reading aloud to yourself, and go on line to check out (ie Yahoo) about how to handle interviews, etc. If you are a veteran of the armed forces, you get automatic preference in hiring. Figure out which field you want to enter, and go after the dream. The average time I've heard to get a new job is at least three to six months, depending upon your skill level, and type of job.

How does one find a decent Physical Security Management job in the Dallas/Ft Worth area
How does one find a decent Physical Security Management job in the Dallas/Ft Worth area?
I retired from the Air Force in 2002. In the Air Force I performed minor aircraft maintenance. I earned a BS degree in Aeronautics in 1996 and a MA degree in Management in 2000. In 2004 I landed a job as a Security Supervisor for the Wackenhut Corp at San Jose, CA. I have been working for them ever since, but I feel I'm under employed. At the end of this year I will be moving to the Dallas area. Wackenhut will probably offer me a job, but more than likely it will be a supervisor's position or less. Can anyone please offer any suggestions how I can break into a security management position in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Thanks!

Apply at another company and let them know you are ready to take on more responsibility. It's worked well for most of the security managers at the company I work for (Securitas). Many have come from Allied, Atlas, etc. All received promotions --the site supervisor became an account manager; the account manager became a Global account manager, etc. As a side note, it really does sound like you have plenty of experience, and should have been moved up from supervisor.

What to do with a Bachelors in Political Science
What to do with a Bachelors in Political Science?
Ok, law school is out of the question. There is less demand than 20 years ago. I was thinking Journalism or getting an MA in Campaign Management I may want to stay an extra year or 2 and get my BS in Adolescent Education with a Certification in Social Studies. What is a good steady career? I did want to go to law school, but then I saw a lower demand article on Yahoo today.

If law school is out of the question you will have to either become a writer of some kind or work for government if you want to use that degree. If you don't want to use the degree you can work in customer service, sales etc.
2
If you want to go to law school, then go. Don't have regrets about it some day. If you graduate in the top of your class you will be the first choice for many good jobs. Plus, lawyers can always practice on their own.
3
Lower demand article hahaha..... We all know its GPA/LSAT related. Poor guy.
4
Whether or not there is lower demand, trust me, you can get a good job if you get your J.D. .. even if you don't want to actually be a practicing lawyer.. but if you don't wanna do that, any of the other options you mentioned would be decent too... just gotta figure out what you wanna do... getting a BS in teaching is the most stable type of job you can train for... the pay isn't so great though.. campaign management.. if you're good at it, it's fairly stable, but would be an intensely competitive field.. I dunno, you have lots of options with a P.S. bachelor's.. it's a liberal arts degree, but yeah, without anything else you usually have to work in politics or just find a job that requires a bachelor's in general

Stop right there! Go to law school! An attorney friend of mine explained it this way: Even if you become a drunk and are sleeping on a park bench, someone will come and get you, clean you up, feed you a hot meal and take you to Men's Warehouse for a suit without vomit stains on it in exchange for services. Or you could always hold up a cardboard sign at an intersection that reads, Will Give Legal Advice For Food, and be sure to include your Bar Number on the sign. You can do more good and make as much money farting around in your house shoes as a lawyer than any of the other things you mentioned.

I already have an MA. What degree is necessary to teach high school?
I already have a BA in English and in Spanish, as well as an MA in English and an MS in Management. I would like to become a high school teacher (US). What programs should I look into - Master of Education, bachelor's level work in education, etc? I would especially appreciate help from current high school teachers.

You need to be certified to teach at the secondary level. Call the Personnel Office of your local school district and ask for help in getting certification information. Just to be sure, check your state department website for requirements for certification. You sound well qualified in terms of content, but they make you take a course in English education. That's a guess. Every state is different.
2
Certification varies greatly from state to state. You can check with your local department of education or the state department to find the exact qualifications for cerfification. In my state - you would do a 5th year teaching cerfificate program, which would essentially give you a masters in education. Most colleges that have an education program can tell you exactly what you need to do to be certified. With the content knowledge that you have - you shouldn't have a problem getting a job. It's just a matter of getting that paper that says you can teach. Good luck!!

I'm going to be blunt, but you asked, okay? "Procurement and acquisitions management" sounds like BS, and I don't mean the degree. I'm surprised a university even offers graduate degrees in something that, on the face of it, means nothing to most people. The fact that you have six or more years of college training and still come to Yahoo! Answers for some direction is an indicator that you yourself don't know what good it is. Sorry, but you asked.

It depends upon what job you're doing and where you work. A CEO could make over $1 million per year. A department manager or supervisor with a DBA could make as little as $50,000 in a small company.

typically a 2 year degree would be some type of associate degree - associate of arts (AA) or associate of science (AS)
3
If this 2-year degree is your first college degree (requires no previous college work), then it is an associates degree (AA or AS). If you already have a 4-year college degree and are entering a non-associates two year program, it's most likely a masters degree (MS or MA). Masters programs require a 4-year college degree to apply; associates do not.

The UK degree will be acceptable to US employers. The Ugandan degree might normally not be, but because it was accepted by the UK university, that may make it acceptable to most US employers. You can have your educational credentials certified as their US equivalents via an educatoinal credential evaluation company, like this one: http://www.ece.org/ If you do this now, you can mention in your cover letter to employers that your foreign degrees are the equivalents of those in the US, and that you've had that certified. This should put to rest any concerns that US employers might have about your degrees.
I recently moved from London California, USA. I have a MA Tourism Management degree from London and a Bachelor of Tourism degree from Kampala, Uganda. My worry is that most employers don't accept my papers. Does any one know any agency that can translate my papers to US equivalent? Please advice me on what I can do. Thanks

Call the local mental health clinic. They will probably have postings of all the activities in the region. Free is less likely but low cost is probable. There amy also be groups similar to AA that were formed by people with anger management issues that they run themselves. They would be free. Ask about them. If you are required lets say by a court to see a professional, these would not suffice.
2
STEP STEP Inc. is a non-profit 501 C-3 organization, offering free on demand (drop-in) services in English and Spanish. Services include addiction recovery, substance and alcohol abuse counseling (individual and group), crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, violence intervention and prevention (anger management), reintegration and aftercare. STEP inc. is conveniently located in downtown Boston adjacent to the North End and North Station.
3
You might want to check our provider list at www.centuryangermanagement.com. Another option would be to take an online anger management class. We offer the most trusted online programs in the nation. Visit our website at http://www.angerclassonline.com

Which University is better for MSc/ MA in Business Management - Regent's London, Dundee or Oxford Brookes
Which University is better for MSc/ MA in Business Management - Regent's London, Dundee or Oxford Brookes?
I have got offers from several universities...but these are the short listed ones.. - Regent's London - Dundee University in Scotland - Oxford Brookes University, Oxford All of them offer partial scholarship for me. However, cost is NOT a concern nor is the cost-of-living/ accommodation in all of the above mentioned cities. Which is the best in your opinion? I have already checked the Times Good, RAE, QAA, Guardian rankings & Reports...and short-listed to these universities. I am aware that Regent's is not ranked as it is considered a "private university" in the UK. Hope you can help me choose the best ones :) Thanks!

I would recommend going in the direction of your perspective career. Accounting will certainly help almost any management career, but if you are already working, you may find that it would be more helpful to have marketing or finance. I have an accounting and finance BA, but I wanted to move into marketing, because the marketing team at my company was weak with financial and accounting analysis. It was my intent to fill that void, and it worked.
2
Accounting is the language of business so I would highly recommend it (I have BS - Bus. Mgmt and MS Acctg). However, a MBA might be a better fit for you depending on your career goals. Do you know what direction you might like to pursue? Do some research on monster.com and other job websites and take a look at the preferred education requirements of those "dream jobs" you might like to do one day.

I am considering doing the same thing. From my understanding, the MS is more specialized whereas the MBA is more broad.
2
as such if u look at the study part there is no major difference just the title differ .actually some colleges offer MA and some MSC . MA is the masters one that is u will get the degree similar to one we get in MA -- english , economics etc etc but in Msc U WILL get degree just for mba . moreover some reputed colleges give diploma thats eqivalent to degree thats PDGHRM -- post graduate diploma in hrm SO DONT WORRY THEY R ALL the same just for the heck of it they have changed the name of the courses!
3
go for ms or master of hrm. dont go for mba (hrm) because you wont become a specialist in hr.mba will waste your time ,teaching you several fields in management and doesnt make you a specialist.

Can't answer your questions specifically, but Clark is a great school. I'm sure with an MBA from any good private university your job prospects are good.
2
Chill! Do what is interesting for you. You can't go wrong, really, and will probably do best in the long run in exactly that which you find more motivating and interesting. I am MBA from Columbia, and have used this approach thruout my career. Ups and downs, but it works in the end, I think.

Which University is good for Msc/MA International Business Management, but doesn't cost a 40k+ in tuition
Which University is good for Msc/MA International Business Management, but doesn't cost a 40k+ in tuition?
Hi there, As mentioned in the title I'd like to study a MA/Msc in International Business (and) Management. It's gonna be either in the UK or in the US. For the UK I've picked my Uni's I'll apply to, but for the US I've got mildly said no clue. I know the Top 20 Uni's in the Field of Business, but they are too expensive. I can't get funding for more than 40k USD tuition in total (40k max. for total time, no matter if it's 12, 18 or 24 months). For comparison, UK typical tuition is around 15k USD - if there's something close to that it would be amazing :) Therefore I'd like to ask for recommendations here :) If you know, I would love a few comments around typical characteristics - Quality of faculty staff, Prof's that promote new ways of thinking, Social life... Just to avoid confusion, the 40k limit concerns only the tuition itself. For living costs I have separate funding that covers about 15k per year, which should be enough.

SUNY Binghamton has a really good business program (ranked in businessweek or something), but you will not find tuition plus room and board lower than 20,000 anywhere since you are out of state. Your best bet would be to look at other state schools in the US such as indiana, penn state, maryland etc because private schools are too expensive.

Click is one of the top agencies in the US. Over the years they have represented Uma Thurman, Elle MacPherson and Isabella Rossellini. Their website does not list any open call dates or times so you need to submit online. You could always try calling the office to ask Honestly, I wouldn't send in pictures now. So many people are on vacation and I'm sure they are getting thousands of pics because people are off school/work this week, and you'll probably just end up in a pile and not get noticed. I'd wait a few weeks after New Years so they have time to clear out their Inboxes and you have a better chance of getting noticed They want 2 pictures - normally that's a heashot facing forward, and a full body shot in fitted clothing or a swimsuit

highly unlikely that there would be one. Even if there was it would be almost 99.999999% be unaccrediated in which case there is really no point of u taking that program anyways.
2
I don't know of any standard MBAs in NYC that don't require the GMAT. However, in the US, some "executive MBAs" don't require the GMAT if you have a certain amount of work experience. You could check to see if any executive MBAs are offered in NYC, and see if they require the GMAT. I'm sure I don't know all the schools that have an executive MBA in NYC, but ones that I know do include Baruch College, Columbia, NYU, Pace, St. Joseph's College, Fordham, Polytechnic University, Wagner College, Metropolitan College of NY, and Hofstra, which is just outside the city. You'll need to check the quality of each program, its accreditation status re: AACSB, and whether or not each requires the GMAT of its executive MBA candidates.

I want to run a non profit. Should I get an MA in non profit management or an MPA or MPP?
I want to run a non profit later in my career. Since i am in my mid 20's I figure now is the time to go back to school. I don't want to waste my time if I don't need a degree or by getting the wrong one.

Many people who run nonprofit organizations have a degree in whatever the nonprofit's area of expertise is: education, theater, social work, public health, etc. So a better choice, in my opinion, would be for you to choose a Masters in the area of nonprofit work you want to specialize in, something that you feel passionate about and are ready to be "married" to. Coupled with a LOT of work experience at nonprofit organizations (including fundraising, marketing and financial management experience), as well as, perhaps, a certificate in nonprofit management, you might be a very attractive candidate for a board of directors to hire to head a nonprofit organization some day.

It is not mandatory to have a degree to run a non profit.Only a zeal and commitment to the cause are necessary !!

I am halfway through my MPA. There are several options. You never need a degree to run a non-profit but there are some courses that might be helpful. There are several other options as well. At my school there is also a certificate program for non-profit if you don't want the whole degree. Public policy, is more for the public sector areas like government. If that is your interest, go that route. If you want non-profit, go MPA and you might be able to work the certificate (emphasis basically) in non-profit management.
